Description:

The Minotaur

The Minotaur is a chamber work featuring the first two poems in Nicole Yackley’s Zoo-Keeping and Other Human-Bull Sh*t, which chronicles the life of the Greek mythical minotaur in his contemporary “post-labrynthine” life. The poems “The Bulldozer” and “The Bull Wakes” focus on the moments the minotaur is simultaneously forced and set free from the labyrinth.

The Minotaur premiered on the World Premiere Series Concert at the Nief-Norf Summer Festival. In 2020, it won the Constantinides New Music Ensemble Call for Scores and was performed in a series of concerts culminating in a performance at Carnegie Hall.
